. . .

Our Big Barn is a double extended Dutch barn. Built primarily of concrete, steel joists and corrugated iron sheets, it is a heavy, industrial, expansive building. The big barn is our main and largest space and it is dedicated to art making of all forms. It can be used as a huge studio, a set, a fabrication workshop, an exhibition space, a cinema, a stage. We see it as becoming a multi-use facility for art production and art dissemination, a big space in North County Kilkenny, a very rural place where there are no others.

We have worked on the barn, clearing it out with diggers, repairing parts, removing parts and adding parts. It has been appropriated for different functions as different artists have worked in there. Currently it has a gravel floor, some electrics, and lights but unfortunately it is not yet an indoor space to work in. Our next plans are to do some ground work and pour a new reinforced concrete floor, level and smooth, that would become the single floor of the entire art space. After this, glazing in the open walls is next. Insulation and some plumbing would follow.

This space needs capital investment.
